Africa's quiet solar revolution
Change can be small, but significant. A great example of this is the solar power project in Tanzania. Electricity can change people's lives, but connecting remote villages to the grid can be very costly. What to do to help people?
The solution from the electrical company M-Power in Tanzania is to use small solar panels, a little smaller than an Ipad which provide enough power for at least a few lights and charging phones. This already changes peoples lives, as mobile paying is used more and more in African countries, the solar power is cleaner than fuels and cheaper.
This project shows that thinking small can have big effects, and that the smart use of technological innovations can change lives.L
